Episode 26 - Rebecca Jones

Rebecca joined the Seagals about 1 year ago in May 2024 and since then has found a renewed awe of swimming.

Beginning her swimming life, Rebecca grew up in rural South Australia. Swimming in rivers and country pools.

She took to the water like a little fish and soon found herself competing in regional events.

Her training was very technique based and she has always moved efficiently and swiftly through the water.

Usually swimming in pools, Rebecca was thrilled to find the incredible marine life and relaxed community based approach to swim in a Bay swim group.

Especially at Brighton Beach spotting Port Jackson Sharks.. not dangerous but thrilling to see!

Rebecca studied art and decided to include swimming and pool into her art portfolio.

A painting of Fitzroy pool was purchased by local council as well as a large scale commission of the Rottnest swim in Perth for local government.

Rebecca has created many lovely exhibitions including one of individual swimmer images, which when transformed into a flicker book style show the swimmer in motion. Very beautiful images.

Rebecca loves the similarity of working with communal groups for her art exhibitions and the community spirit of the Seagals swim group.

Especially when it comes to solidarity on Environment and Care.

Whilst proficient in many mediums, her current preferred art format is drawing with charcoal.

You can follow Rebecca on her Instagram account to view her works, or if you are quick - pop in to her current exhibition at No Vacancy Gallery in Melbourne.
